ABRAM RECEIVES AREVELATION OF EL ELYON.

Message Title : ABRAM RECEIVES A
REVELATION OF EL ELYON.

Foundational scripture :
Genesis 14:17-20

Tithing is a part of a divine plan that was ordained by God. It is not a legalistic ritual required by the Law. Instead, it is an outward expression of the covenant-relationship that we have with God and it is God’s method for pouring His blessings upon us.

God set tithing into place through Abram before the Law was given.

Abram’s action of giving his tithe to Melchisedec set the precedent for tithing.

Abram had just won a great victory in a battle. When he was returning from it, Melchisedec (the king of Salem) and the king of Sodom came to meet him. Melchisedec was both a king and a high priest of God. Melchisedec functioned as the priest of the most high God before the Levitical priesthood was established under the Law.

Melchisedec pronounced a blessing upon Abram in the Name of El Eyon: Blessed be Abram of the most high God El Elyon, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God El Elyon, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand and he gave him tithes of all – (Genesis 14:19-20).

This is the first time that this Name of God is used in the Bible. After this blessing, the text tells us that Abram gave Melchisedec a tithe (a tenth) of all of the spoils from his battle.

Melchisedec, the divinely appointed representative of God, accepted Abram’s tithes and actually transmitted to Abram (by divine authority) the blessings of God.

Abram recognized the God who spoke to him for who He was. He was not some remote deity; He was El Elyon: the STRONG, ALL-POWERFUL, GOD ALMIGHTY, the CREATOR, the GOD ABOVE ALL OTHER GODS, THE MOST HIGH, THE SUPREME GOD!

Abram gave his tithe willingly and freely from a heart of love, IN AN ACT OF WORSHIP, He acknowledged that God was the Supreme God and the Source of his blessing. Melchisedec, being God’s representative, received the tithe, presented it to God, and pronounced God’s blessings upon Abram. But he whose descent is not counted from them (Melchisedec was not counted in the bloodline of the Levitical priesthood) received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises – (Hebrews 7:6).

The example of Abram giving his tithes to El Elyon before the Law was given is the basis for our giving tithes today.

It is to be based upon each of us coming into a relationship with God whereby we have had a revelation of Him as El Elyon and recognize Him for who He is. When we tithe faithfully, we honor Him from a heart of praise, love, and worship!

Later, tithing was required under the Law because of the hardness of the hearts of God’s people.

God prefers that we give our tithes and offerings voluntarily because we love Him.

To learn how Christ, your great High Priest, receives your tithes and releases God’s promised blessings into your life, see -(Hebrews 7:1-10.)
