Elyon: Ascent Infinite Realm – Launch Success Or Failure? 2021 MMORPG

Elyon is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Krafton and published by Kakao Games. The game has focused on dynamic combat between two Realms, Vulpin and Ontari, with players using diverse skill combinations on the basis of the non-targeting system.

How has the launch gone in Korea? Personally I think this bodes well for the game doing well over here, depends of course how much content we get and what the monetisation looks like but in terms of how the SK population are enjoying it? Seems to be doing better than I had expected to be honest.

  1. Hey it's not Nexon, Perfect World or Aeria Gamigo so with that alone I'll give it a fair chance when it comes over here, regardless of how it does in Korea.

  2. This and lost ark r the 2 mmo types games I'm looking forward to this year. I don't expect either to be amazing, but I'm sure they will be good fun.

  3. I' ve been following this game for a while now but what exactly does this game bring to the table? Amazing graphics? Awesome combat? Fun and replayable end game? Not sure about those but right now, cant see the appeal of the game really. Combat seems good but there are games with better combat. Graphics seem ok but its UE3 game so it is going to have limits. Havent seen its end game but knowing eastern games, it is probably pvp which is fine, pvp is the most replayable content cuz its different everytime(or most of the times). Not even mentioning it wont have any novelty of a new game once it arrives at west as western version will be behind Korea. At least when it was Ascent Infinite Realm, it had a niche, although they failed to deliver it has a good niche, hence they backed off. This seems like a slightly above average Korean MMORPG but very copy and pasta.

  4. I'm quite surprised that Lost Ark isn't doing good in KR probably because it's another case of "too little, too late" kind of thing. Had it launched earlier, then might have seen better days. As for Elyon, I hope they handle MTX in a reasonable way that doesn't impede progression and gameplay.

  5. You know, ive been let down so often. But, not sure why, this game and BlueProtocol are my most anticipated games.
I REALLY hope it workes out well. But lets see what the future holds when it finally releases here in the West

  6. the game has a lot of content: dungeons, world bosses, grinding similar to BDO, gear progression (upgrades, runes, breakthrough, passive skill tree, jewels, seraphin etc.), pvp arena 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, GvG, RvR, simple open world pvp vs other faction in farming zones, sanctuary, crafting (alchemy, blacksmith, tailor etc), lifeskills like fishing, trading routes. combat is fast and skill based with iframes. optimization is very good, i did some fights with 50 people on the map 0 lag. doesnt seem pay to win from what i saw in kr, but the translations are hard to understand. overall a solid 9 for me, will go hard on it once it releases

  7. I like the dark art style it has to it. But, BlackDesertOnline is still the best MMO for me, don't see myself playing this, especially when they took away the air combat feature. Now it's just a normal mmo, nothing unique to it.

  8. I've played literally every MMO to date that is worth playing and I want something fresh. It seems the only worthwhile choices are this or Lost Ark. Which one are you leaning towards the most?

  9. Loved the analysis on PC bangs/ cafes. One thing to note though ~ games targeting PC bangs typically have less emphasis on personal aspects such as story, because in PC cafes you constantly get interrupter by your friends, your drink orders coming, or just people making a scene. Games for PC bangs are typically rather mind-numbing to let you sit back and talk to your friends while the games serve as 'passive' entertainment, almost like watching TV on a couch. Used to go to gaming cafes after work; they're so much fun and many of them resemble high-end cafes.

  10. I'd take this PC room (bang means room) data with a grain of salt since PC rooms here have had their schedules affected by covid restrictions so it could be skewing the data. Twitch viewership is very low and something to keep in mind.

  11. I've been part of the latest Stress Test and played a bit at launch and I barely enjoyed Elyon. As mentioned it's gonna be P2W, and looking at the current Cash Shop it's gonna be a lot more agressive than Black Desert Online and a lot more detrimental because Elyon is a PvP-focus game. Also the artistic direction is kinda bland (Unreal Engine 3 with many already seen assets and TERA visuals/animations) and all the cosmetics elements are killing the immersion of the game making it look like a childish world just like TERA is nowadays… One of their biggest selling point definitely was the Steampunk theme but it's just affected by the cosmetics previously mentioned and also their gamedesign change downgrading the air battles and making them absolutely meaningless. ATM I cannot consider Elyon otherwise than an umpteenth KR MMO clone lacking of identity and overly greedy.

  12. PC bang actually play big role about population , because you really communicate with other player , and boy I miss the vibes when hundreds of people , trying takedown 1 dragon , which most of them is on a same bang with me
