The second Closed Beta for Elyon just finished, and with the game launching next month on September 29th, I thought I’d detail my experience through both the Beta tests. Discuss things I think are worth noting before investing money into purchasing the game. And mention what I believe Elyon does right.
Let me start off by saying that I do not think Elyon should be a buy-to-play MMO. I’ve seen people compare this to both Bless Unleashed, which launched recently, and New World, which is launching around the same time.
And while the combat and graphics are definitely an improvement over Bless, and I daresay the combat is better than both Swords of Legends and New World as well, I don’t think, at its core, this is the better game of the aforementioned titles.
I think Elyon would work better as a free title. It definitely doesn’t feel like a premium title, and I’m afraid that is going to be reflected in its sales and subsequently its playerbase.
Don’t get me wrong; Elyon isn’t in any way a bad game. On the contrary, it’s actually pretty fun from what I’ve played. But I wouldn’t pay $40 to play it. Just like I wouldn’t pay $40 to play FlyFF or Secret World Legends, even though I’ve had fun with both titles in the past.

Elyon is a perfectly passable MMORPG. It's not going to break the genre, heck, given that it's launching at roughly the same time as New World, I fear that the game is going to end up highly overlooked.
Which means that there'll likely be nobody actually playing it long-term.
I don't think the combat, which is by far the game's main selling point in my opinion is enough to warrant a purchase of the title, and with how much of a grind it turned out to be, along with the forced PvP.. I feel as though this will likely end up a pass for most players.
I'v played AIR: at the loucnh of the first Thai beta , and now finally iv tryed Elyon too. My conclusions ? This game is Tera online , with different models. Same mobs , same mobs animations and same shop system. AIR: was an amazing new steampunk game. With a really different system etc. And this thing make me say no to pre-order the game now. Becouse im a really old tera player , and i saw how they make tera. So sad every time we get trash in eu .
Bless Unleased surprisingly is more optimized that Elyon.

Most players love pvp and ganking, or fear of being ganked, personally thats what im looking for in mmo so its a thumbs up for me. Cant wait.

I honestly dislike MMOs that encourages you to play alone most of the time. It is the opposite of what an MMO should do. That being said, I started playing FF14 and I was SO disappointed on the main quest. Don't get me wrong, the story, dungeons and raids involved in the main quest are awesome, but there's SO MUCH talking to the NPCs, you literally spend an entire night just talking to the NPCs and doing useless chores before you get to play with your friends. I think this is the only time in my life that I've missed the typical "Slay 20 ___" quests.
Once i heard you cant turn off pvp in open world that finished the game for me .
I played CBT2 and I was kinda bummed at how the game plays. The intro scenario was fun but I just didn't really get into it after that. I disagree that the graphics are better in Elyon than it is in Bless Unleashed. Also Bless was way more fun than elyon and is also free to play
well i just hope the game finds a good niche playerbase, despite all the way to early negative press. if elyon fails, it was defenetly my last MMO. i will not play Boomer World or some isometric games like im back in 1990.

I don't understand the first con. Why is that a con? From what I can tell the game promotes open world PVP and large scale wars, while having arenas to boot.
If players were expecting a full PVE experience then you guys are delusional. One activity automatically is a turn off because of forced PVP. When the game seems to head to the direction of a more PVP focused game. SMH.
Just wait for Blue Protocol, or Lost Ark. From I can tell the latter provides a true PVE experience and the former provides separate activities from PVE and PVP with open world PVP seemingly non-existant only arenas for now.

Agree. Don't seem to be so bad but I am not gonna play this one. Thing is that this game was originally designed as f2p game and then they decided to turn it into an overpriced b2p game, which makes me think that they may end up pulling a bless/astellia on the player base so not even gonna waste my time.

How can I take this game seriously when half of the slayer skills are re-used from Tera?

i'mma be honest and be a little grumbly about the review.
The MMO in question was designed with PvP at it's core… So saying that it doesn't have enough of PvE element is…. a bit off.
I got to level 35 within a single playthrough (4-5 hours) but I did spend a fair bit of that AFK. I imagine with a bit of a push you could easily hit PvP content (level 30) within 2 hours after you've gotten to grips with the game.
Whilst I agree that if you are wanting a self-target PvE game, avoid this, but I think the market in general was aimed directly at those who love the thrill of PvP and not so much the PvE element.
lol I think you are going to be absolutely wrong about your "assessment" about Elyon, just like how you were absolutely floored wrong about Bless Unleashed. Well at least initially it will be quite full, but in the long wrong, it will die out quickly when the new mmorpg giants releases like Lost Ark or New World or AOC.
I'm playing Bless Unleashed now, and so far its actually not too bad. The combat is a bit clunky compared to something like BDO but the PvE aspect of this game really does a good job in terms of keeping people playing and occupied. I think it'll be like ESO when players hit max level and see the real grind, that's when it will start the MASSIVE drop off in population.
Good thing they aren't releasing to asia.
Not cared about it before and now dont care even more hearing it costs so much and has cash shop potentialy turning into p2w later.
But (its just my opinion) solo dungeons sohuld be on both side (pros and cons) not everyone want to group up all the time (sometimes ppl want to go solo or like me with each year have less time so "quick" solo run without wasting time for finding ppl or doing a dung for 1 h where half of the time was spent on afking due to irl stuff is a pro) and most of the times i see in mmos (not only free) now is that ppl (probably younger generation cause we old fossils ate our teeth on endless painful grinds in the past training our patientce to the extreme – just my personal opinion) group up expecting others to carry them and give them all the loot….yes im lookign at wow lfr (not to mention "meta warriors" not picking ppl to group because they dont play meta class/spec).
So again as my personal opinion solo dungeons should be a pro and a con at the same time depending on player veiw point not only con.
I remember being a bit interested in the game back when the first cbt was coming out, then i found it was gonna be $40 and it certainly looks far more like a f2p MMO rather than a b2p mmo

I played it for a day…. it has some fun things about it but………… I mean after one day I was like eh right on, good enough =P It's no FF14.
As long as the combat is as good as bns, I don't mind having to soloing the game until lvl 40. It shouldn't take long I think.

I think you guys were streaming one day when I saw you guys walk out of town and there was like 100 people doing PVP not far from the town and that you guys couldn’t do any of your quest that right there turned me off from the game big time!
Who will ever like forced pvp in middle of open world that developer surely is a pvp gamer know nothing about pve at all.
If it's not going to be a pay to win mmo, then this looks good for me, I'm a pvp guy so yeah. But I'll wait for reviews of the cash shop to see if it's pay to win. To have cash shop items that would boost experience etc is ridiculous since you already need to pay for the game.
Im still pissed with mmo combat… this hardly looks any better than teras combat, and vindictus is like a decade old??? so elyons combat looks no diffrent from a decade old game… new worlds combat is just trash and omg ashes of creations combat is garbage… tab target in 2023-24… those raid fights look no diffrent from a mobile mmo… its just sad

IMO no game should be free to play. A game was made, if you want to play it, you should pay for it. It costs money to make things. Free to play just makes it 100 times more likely to have P2W.
Elyon will end up like Tera on launch. Poor sales and subs. Which ultimately lead to the game being F2P.
And a lot of the animation on Elyon feels similar to that of Tera, almost as if they are re-using mechanics/animations from Tera.
For me, this will be a hard pass. I'll wait for it to go F2P.

Actually really enjoyed the Beta. Love the combat, pvp focus and skill system, very extensive. It’s not very P2W either so I’ll give it a go. I hope it will do well but probably not.

This went from a unique, airship-focused MMO to "generic korean MMO number 600".
This game is soooo trashhhhhhhhhhhhh..I played the beta and it was one of the worst mmos experiences ive ever had. Even worse then Bless unleashed
the game is so trash lmfao, it's 2021…you should be able to walk up a mountain, should be able to get to every texture terrain and each map of it is a sandbox. it's just so shit

Nothing is as boring as having to grind the same dungeons over and over again.
Action melee PVE combat is crap. The monsters don't do anything you imagine they would in real life. They just move spastically, usually on top of your character. The bigger the monster, the more unrealistic it looks. Show me an MMO where a leopard takes a swipe at you with its paw, or grabs you by the throat.
Well, there goes the hype. Won't buy it, I regret even getting into Swords of Legends Online. Maybe should wait for New World.
That looks like slayer class from Tera, even the move set has the same animations…. ahah… Perhaps it will follow the same way Tera did, went f2p some time later

Elyon's lack of an invert mouse option killed any chance of me picking it up. Not sure how games dropping in 2021 still lack this option.
